As I mentioned on the phone, I owe you an
apology regarding the Oak Stump Yellow Jacket Trap. When
I first saw the trap, I am sure that you noticed that I was less
than enthusiastic in my reaction.
In fact, I said, "this thing will never
work." Boy was I wrong. I started using the sample at
home in my backyard, and it is to the point that it is necessary
to clean it twice a week. It is amazing, and the yellow jackets
are waiting in line to get into the trap.
You mentioned that I will rid my backyard of
these pesky creatures. At the rate I'm going, I will rid the
whole city of Billings. This is truly an item that needs to be
demonstrated. I will be notifying [my company] to do just that.
What an item!
Best regards,
K.K.

For Mothers Day this year, my Mom gave me the
"Yellow Jacket" Wasp Trap. I can say I was not too
happy, until I finally filled it with apple juice and hung it on
a tree outdoors. Well to my amazement, about three hours later,
the flies and nats that had been caught in the trap were
unbelievable. I immediately went out and purchased three more
traps. I live on the bay and my back yard is the wetlands so the
amount of bugs that I have to empty weekly from these traps is
unreal. Every summer for the past six years, we are invested by
little ants, well this year the ants all went to your traps. I
just want to thank you for this product, and I will continue to
purchase them and spread the word about your products.
This is the best bug fighting tool I have
ever seen, its safer than sprays and works great. Now if
you could invent a product for ticks please let me know. I find
at least ten a day on my dog and also a few crawling on my walls,
thank you again for this wonderful product.
Sincerely,
K.C.

I've never written to a company about their
product before, but I just had to write to you!
In the past couple of days we could not use our
back yard, especially if we had food. The children had to play in
other yards because the bees were so bad.
Last evening we tried locating the nest but had
no luck. I remembered seeing your trap in a store and kind of
laughing at it! Well I'm glad to say I got one this morning and
in about half an hour we have about 10 Yellow Jackets and
countless flies in the jar!! I will recommend it to anybody! It's
nice to find a product that does what it says!!
Thanks!!

I just had to write to tell you how
successfully my "Yellow Jacket Wasp Trap" is working.
The first day I had to clean it out that
evening, and since then I have cleaned it out three times, full
of the darn insects, all kinds, even ants.
I have even convinced six of my neighbors to
get them and they are very glad they did.
It is a GREAT product, very simple, very clean
and very effective. Thanks you....
Respectfully,

Yesterday while mowing the lawn, I was stung
twice by yellow jackets. I noticed yellow jackets were swarming
around the entire back yard. I immediately went to the hardware
store to buy enough chemicals to eradicate the problem. I was
told there was no effective chemical procedure to follow without
locating the nest. From the hardware store, I proceeded to a
nursery where I found your "Yellow Jacket" wasp trap.
When I saw the simplistic design, I thought I was being taken for
$9.00. However, I did buy your trap.
I followed the directions by using apple juice
and fresh fish. The results were 50 yellow jackets in one
afternoon. I promptly put the trap out again this morning. It is
about 2:00 p.m. and already there are about 25 yellow jackets in
the trap.
Thanks for letting me have my backyard back.
Sincerely,
E.S.

This letter is in regards to the "Yellow
Jacket" Wasp Trap, #4,794,724. We purchased two traps for
our carwash. Our employees were getting stung badly. The owner
purchased the two traps from Pathmark. The traps work excellent.
All our customers are asking where they can
purchase the traps. We would like to purchase more so we have
them for next summer, but we haven't been able to find the traps.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could
notify me where we can purchase these traps. Thank you.
Sincerely,
CW

In Mid-August I received a challenging call
from a potential customer regarding yellow jackets. The situation
was as follows:
- An outdoor wedding, with all the trimmings,
including a formal dinner to be held the first weekend in October.
- An already existing yellow jacket problem, due to
the flora, etc.
- No nest were found by landscape contractors or
painters.
- A large property in a very exclusive residential
neighborhood.
- No chemicals allowed because of an asthmatic
homeowner.
The homeowner was concerned, because a friend
hosted an outdoor affair the previous fall that turned into a
nightmare, due to yellow jacket invasion.
I was contacted after the homeowner sought
solutions from several other pest control companies that were
either non-chalant or unsympathetic to the problem.
Needless to say, it was a challenging problem,
and I was not quite sure as to what control measures should be
taken under the circumstances.
I had recently received the August '94 issue of
Pest Control Magazine, which had an article in it
"Evaluation of Non-Toxic Bait Traps for Yellow Jacket
Control." It seemed to have been written for this particular
situation, and there was time enough to "experiment." I
informed the customer that there may be a solution, but I would
not make any specific guarantee of the results. She was willing
to try anything within reason.
I contacted [pest control supplier] where I
purchase pest control supplies. We discussed the situation and
decided to try several different traps to determine which worked
best and then mount a full-scale trapping effort.
After a trial period the "Oak Stump
Farm" trap proved to be the best of the four devices
used in the test. Although the product was more expensive, we
felt the added cost was warranted due to the superior
performance.
Two weeks before the wedding I placed thirty
six of your traps baited with apple juice. The traps were
monitored and refreshed as needed during that period. A log was
kept of where each trap was placed and a count maintained.
The result was a total of approximately 1400
yellow jackets trapped, 500 flies, plus thousands of ants.
The wedding day was a beautiful fall day, with
temperatures in the seventies and bright sunshine.
The incidence of yellow jackets was virtually
non-existent.
The customer was not only pleased, but
impressed to the point of referring me to the caterer and the
tent rental company. The landscaping contractor is also
interested in networking.
I would like to convey my thanks to you and
your company for developing a product that works, and works well.
I am in the process of developing a yellow
jacket control program to be instituted next spring as an
integral part of the services I now offer. The "Oak Stump
Farm" trap is the product I am planning to use as a primary
control measure.
Sincerely yours,
J.C.
